Dr. Canalizo is a proud University of South Florida medical school graduate from the class of 1993. He completed his residency at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach between 1993 -1996, achieving the Chief Resident position. Dr. Canalizo worked as an ER physician with EMPros beginning in 1996, as well as practicing with Halifax Family Practice. He recently accepted the position as Medical Director at PrimeCare Urgent Care centers, where he proudly serves the urgent needs of the community. Dr Canalizo is married with two adult children. In his free time he enjoys working out and wine tastings with his wife.
Dr. Wayne Barry
Dr. Barry was born in Tennessee, and raised in Western Pennsylvania, and adolesced for 2 years in Lakeland, Florida long before Disney came to town. Dr. Barry went to high school in Chicago, college in Boston at Harvard University and medical school in Cleveland, completing his training at John Hopkins in Baltimore. Dr. Barry is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He practiced Emergency Medicine for 32 years before turning joining to PrimeCare Urgent Care in 2012. Dr. Barry is married, has 4 daughters and 2 grandchildren. He is an avid NASCAR fan. In his free time Dr. Barry likes to play golf, cruise and collect art with his wife.
Dr. Monica Cantú
Dr. Cantú is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She completed two years of general surgery training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she managed Level 1 trauma patients and provided medical care to pediatric & adult patients. Born in Mexico and fluent in both Spanish & English, Dr. Cantú grew up in Texas and attended the University of Texas-Pan American/Baylor College of Medicine Premedical Honors College for her undergraduate degree. In her spare time, Dr Cantú serves as an Assistant Instructor to medical school students & graduates, teaching them foundational medical knowledge & clinical skills in preparation for their medical licensing examinations. She also enjoys exploring the many cultural & sporting events that Florida has to offer.
Dr. Mike Jecen
Mike Jecen and his older sister were raised in St. Petersburg, FL by their wonderful parents. He is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he graduated with a BS in electrical engineering. Mike then returned to St. Pete and worked as a design engineer for various military contracting firms. After several years of engineering, he soon realized his calling was in medicine. Mike started off as a nursing assistant on the medical/surgical floor of a large hospital until leaving for the South University Physician Assistant program in Savannah, GA. After completing my MS as a PA, Mike returned to the Tampa Bay area and practiced in Internal Medicine for about one year. After moving to Daytona Beach in 2011 and practiced in Emergency Medicine until earlier this year (2015), Mike joined the PrimeCare urgent care team. In his free time, Mike enjoys traveling, fishing, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends.
